EN POTENCIA L'H

En Potencia L’H es un programa de actividades en el espacio público celebrado en la primavera de 2021 en el marco de la exposición Our garden needs its flowers. Fluxos i narratives artístiques al Districte Cultural de L’Hospitalet, comisariada por David Armengol y Albert Mercadé para el Centro de Arte Tecla Sala. El eje central del proyecto es la creación de un espacio de debate y reflexión sobre el rol de los agentes culturales en los procesos de gentrificación y transformación de los usos del espacio urbano en L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. En base a herramientas teóricas y conceptuales como las recogidas por Martha Rosler en Clase cultural, arte y gentrificación (Caja Negra, 2020), Pimiento y Montesinos invitan a artistas, curadores y trabajadores del sector cultural, entre otros, a interrogarse sobre cómo desarrollar prácticas artísticas sostenibles con el entorno en el que se producen: ¿qué impacto ha tenido el Distrito Cultural en el tejido social de L’Hospitalet de Llobregat? ¿Qué estrategias se pueden llevar a cabo para que se produzca una convergencia cuidada y cuidadosa entre lo público, lo social y lo artístico? En Potencia L’H contribuye a estimular el pensamiento crítico en torno a estas cuestiones.

El elemento central que actúa como desencadenante para accionar los diversos encuentros es un dispositivo/escultura desplegable, consistente en una serie de estructuras modulares. Estos módulos están confeccionados con materiales desechados o encontrados, como maderas, contrachapados, corchos o plásticos, entre otros. Reensamblados y reconvertidos, toman forma de mobiliario urbano en distintas posibilidades: sillas, mesas, bancos, gradas… que son ocupadas por participantes. La experimentación con lo residual y los procesos de resignificación de materiales atravesados por investigaciones sociológicas, antropológicas y/o artísticas son rasgos comunes en las prácticas artísticas de Pimiento y Montesinos, que confluyen ahora con el objetivo de generar un lugar colaborativo de comunicación e intercambio de conocimientos.

En Potencia L'H is a program of activities in public spaces that took place in the spring of 2021 within the framework of the exhibition Our garden needs its flowers. Artistic fluxes and narratives at the Cultural District of L’Hospitalet, curated by David Armengol and Albert Mercadé for the Tecla Sala Art Center. The central axis of the project is the creation of a space for debate and reflection on the role of cultural agents in the processes of gentrification and the transformation of urban space uses in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Based on the theoretical and conceptual tools collected by Martha Rosler in Cultural Class, Art, and Gentrification (Caja Negra, 2020), Pimiento and Montesinos invite artists, curators, and cultural sector workers, among others, to question how to develop sustainable artistic practices within the environment in which they occur: What impact has the Cultural District had on the social network of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat? What strategies can be implemented for a thoughtful and careful convergence between the public, the social, and the artistic? En Potencia L'H contributes to stimulating critical thinking around these questions.

The central element that acts as a trigger for the different encounters is a deployable device/sculpture, consisting of a series of modular structures. These modules are made from discarded or found materials, such as wood, plywood, cork, and plastic, among others. Reassembled and repurposed, they take the form of urban furniture in various forms: chairs, tables, benches, steps, and so on, which are occupied by participants. Experimentation with waste and processes of resignification of materials informed by sociological, anthropological, and/or artistic research are common features of Pimiento and Montesinos' artistic practices, which now converge with the aim of generating a collaborative space for communication and knowledge exchange.
